PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The West Angelas A-West (WAAW) project is planned to sustain the current mine production capacity at 35 Mtpa ramping up from 2026. WAAW is comprised of three new pits, A West 1 (AW1), A West 2 (AW2)
and A West 3 (AW3). The Project will deliver infrastructure for the development of AW1 and AW3 to enable mining activity to start in Quarter 1 2025 and quarter 4 2025, respectively. The A West deposit is
located between the existing West Angelas Deposit A in the east and Deposit D in the west, and links infrastructure between Hub A and Hub CD.
CONTRACT SUMMARY
The Project scope includes the following major work areas:
- Heavy vehicle (HV) haul roads between A West and Hub A, including pit
access and facilities - Light vehicle (LV) road network, including interface with existing Hub A
and Hub CD road networks - LV detour access road from Deposit A West to Deposit F
- Pre-stripping of mining pit areas and waste dump stockpiles including
vegetation clearing and topsoil stockpiling and - Surface water management structures, including pit diversion drains.
The project award builds on the existing relationship with Rio Tinto on the
West Angelas Mine site which has resulted in numerous contract awards
over the past few years.
