MIKE SUTTON
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Mike joined NRW as Chief Operating Officer in September 2023.
Mike is a qualified engineer with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and over 40 years’ experience. He has overseen a broad range of civil and mining projects throughout Europe and Africa and for the last 27 years in Western Australia.
Mike has held senior positions in contracting businesses such as Henry Walker Eltin, Leighton, Downer and most recently as CEO and Managing Director of MACA, as well as mining companies Western Mining, Normandy and Fortescue Metals.
DENNIS DONJERKOVICH
GENERAL MANAGER, CIVIL - RESOURCES
Dennis Donjerkovich joined NRW in 2010 and performed several senior management roles including Operations Management and Business Development before being appointed General Manager – Civil in 2015.
Dennis has had an extensive career spanning over 30 years in the civil construction and resources industry and has held key senior management positions throughout Australia.
Dennis holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Western Australia.
JJ VAN DER WALT
GENERAL MANAGER, CIVIL - INFRASTRUCTURE
JJ van der Walt joined NRW in December 2019 when the Company acquired BGC Contracting. JJ’s previous role at BGC Contracting commenced in early 2019 as General Manager, Construction West.
JJ’s career spans 29 years within the construction industry, including Western Australia and Southern Africa. He held senior operational roles prior to joining NRW responsible for project execution in both the resource and public infrastructure markets.
JJ holds a National Higher Diploma, T4 – Civil Engineering from the Vaal University of Technology, South Africa.
LISA BRANFORD
GENERAL MANAGER, MINING
Since 2005, Lisa has worked in various roles, including Project Manager, Project Director, Area Manager Mining and Business Development, and has provided office-based technical assistance to projects.
She has also assisted site-based teams in the project commencement phase to ensure a smooth transition following contract awards and managed various corporate developments. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and currently leads the mining team as General Manager – Mining.
CRAIG WATSON
GENERAL MANAGER, PLANT
Craig Watson joined NRW Civil & Mining in July 2018 as the Executive General Manager of Assets and later transitioned into his current role as General Manager – Plant. Craig has in excess of 40 years’ experience in the Civil Construction, Mining and Mining Services Industries.
Prior to joining NRW, Craig held senior management positions with Equipment Manufacturers, Equipment Suppliers and Contract Mining Businesses. Craig is a qualified Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic, holds a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Economics and Finance and holds a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering.
THOMAS BYRNE
GENERAL MANAGER, HSEQ
Thomas Byrne was appointed to the role of General Manager – HSEQ for both NRW Civil & Mining and Action Drill & Blast, in December 2022.
Prior to this, he held management roles with the NRW Holdings Group, having joined them in April 2020 as part of the BGC Contracting acquisition. These include the National HSE Manager at BGC Contracting and the National HSEQ Manager for Action Drill & Blast.
Thomas has held several leadership roles across the HSEQ function both project-based and corporately with national portfolios supporting Mining, Civil Construction and Public Infrastructure. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Limerick.
MICHAEL HUNT
GENERAL MANAGER, GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
Michael commenced his role as General Manager of Growth & Development at NRW in September 2023. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the WA School of Mines and has over 25 years of experience in the WA mining industry, including 20 years in mining contracting.
Michael has previously held senior roles in Operations Management, Estimating and Technical Services for Downer Mining and recently as Executive General Manager of Mining for MACA.
PHILLIP ARCHDALL
GENERAL MANAGER, HUMAN RESOURCES
Phillip has worked for NRW since February 2012 and held various management positions within the HR Department, before moving into the role of General Manager – Human Resources in October 2021.
Prior to joining NRW, Phillip held various Human Resources leadership roles in global investment banks in London and Zurich. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development and a Post Graduate Certificate in Energy and Carbon Studies.
