PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Xstrata Copper owns and operates an open-cut and underground mining and processing operation 38 kilometres north of Cloncurry in north west of Queensland.
The initial project consisted of the construction of the 22.5 kilometres Monakoff Haul Road to link the three open-cut E1 pits to the twoopen-cut Monakoff pits.
Deemed operations critical, NRW were required to mobilise and construct the road within a 60 day period.
Following the successful delivery an additional stage was given to NRW to undertaken the mine infrastructure construction.
Construction works included clear and grub, topsoil strip, construction of water storage dams, development of mine waste rock dumps, construction of clean water diversion drains and the consultation of infrastructure hard stands.
