PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Christmas Creek Project is located approximately 100km northeast of Newman in Western Australia.
Chichester Metals is developing the Christmas Creek (CC) Hall Hub Development Project, including a new primary crusher, an overland conveyor, surge bin, power supply and other supporting works.

The purpose of this infrastructure is to eliminate the requirement for extended truck haul across the life of the deposit. NRW’s long-standing relationship commenced with Fortescue Metals Group, with the same NRW operational team, in 2007 for their Cloudbreak rail earthworks project.

CONTRACT SUMMARY

Construction of detailed earthworks, drainage, culverts and overpass tunnel for conveyor 09CV112 and supporting works.

The scope of work includes:

  •  Construction of one HME overpass tunnel which will enclose the conveyor and adjacent LV maintenance track to allow heavy and light vehicles to pass over
  • Construction of twenty-six banks of corrugated steel pipe (CSP) culverts and associated scour protection
  • Complete detailed earthworks for the 09CV112 run of conveyor along the full conveyor chainage (approximately 13.6km in length), including sheeting to the final levels
  • Complete detailed earthworks for the CC Hall Hub PCP pad foundation.
