NRW was awarded the PC1 to PC2 Haul Road at South Flank in November 2020 by BHP Iron Ore. The project is located 120 kilometres north-west of Newman, Western Australia.
Contract
The contract includes bulk and detailed earthworks and installation of 7no CSP Culverts totaling approximately 2.5 kilometres in length, and 3no Rock Drains containing approximately 12,000 cubic metres of rock. This will allow BHP to construct a haul road from Primary Crusher 1 to Primary Crusher 2. The earthworks and culverts will be installed in a heritage sensitive area located south of the PC1 & PC2 across extremely challenging terrain.
The scope of works includes:
- Clear and grub
- Construction of access roads
- Embankment construction
- Culvert installation
- Win, sort, load and haul rock and placement in rock drains
and headwalls - Interface management with BHP mining and Geo-Sciences
