NRW have been contracted to undertake the construction of the 22.5km Monakoff Haul Road to link the three open-cut E1 pits to the two open-cut Monakoff pits, at the Xstrata Copper owned, Ernest Henry mine.Xstrata Copper owns and operates the open-cut and underground mining and processing operation 38km north of Cloncurry in North-West Queensland.Deemed operations critical, we are required to mobilise and construct the road within a 60 day period. Construction works include clear and grub, topsoil strip and stockpile, cut to fill, and pavement works.

To reduce critical construction time, and to manage the scarce on-site water, NRW has elected to pug the pavement material off-site before carting into the road box for placement, compaction and trimming.
