PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In late 2011, NRW commenced construction of a 450,000 cubic metres clay core wall to increase the tailings storage capacity of the Gregory Crinum Mine Tailings Dam. As a DERM approved regulated storage facility the works were constructed under the inspection regime of an independent dam expert.

All works were completed to a very high standard and HSE incident-free. Ancillary works included recovery of 100,000 cubic metres of topsoil from within the inundation footprint, relocation and rehabilitation of a rejects road, relocation of an active tailings pipeline and upgraded drainage channels.
